LDF manifesto expected to focus on turning state a knowledge hub

Kochi: LDF manifesto for assembly elections, to be released in a couple of days, is expected to give thrust to making state a knowledge hub and projects to empower women will also be a major highlight. Promises to make Kerala a ‘poverty-free state' may also figure in the manifesto."We need to ensure more competitive infrastructure and academic facilities in the state. The standard of education institutions up to higher secondary in govt sector has improved significantly. However, we need to take steps to improve the quality of higher education sector in the state and make sure that students from Kerala don't need to go abroad for studies. So, the manifesto gives importance to this aspect," sources associated with the preparation of the manifesto said. LDF govt has already taken up a mission to eradicate extreme poverty, and govt declared that the mission was achieved on Nov 1, 2025. It is as a step forward that LDF plans to announce measures to make Kerala a poverty-free state. "Waterbodies constitute a major asset of Kerala. So far, we couldn't tap the potential of waterbodies in an effective way. There will be a comprehensive plan for conservation of waterbodies and use them in a more productive manner. There will be plans for modernisation of agriculture sector in the manifesto," sources added. Though K-Rail may not find a place in the manifesto, the need for similar high-speed rail projects will be there. According to LDF leadership, a fast and extensive transport facility is needed for the transformation and development of the state.
